Deanna Morell

Hi, Welcome to my page and thank you for your interest. I grew up in Palmyra, graduated for Palmyra­ Macedon (Class of '85) and then graduated from the University of Rochester ('89). After growing up in a small town, I couldn't wait to experience city life and soon moved to Los Angeles. After a couple years there, I came back to New York briefly and then on to the Carolinas.

It's there that I became a financial advisor. I had gotten laid off from a company where I worked as a lease manager. After that, I wanted to be self-employed so I could never be laid off again. I also wanted fulfillment of doing something that made a real difference in peoples' lives. My father had me reading Fortune and Forbes magazine from the time I was about 12. He was an attorney and self-employed so that entrepreneurial spirit was in me. Somehow those things led rite on a path to become a financial advisor in 1998 with American Express, back when they had an advisor division. I came back to New York in 2001and continued my career.

In 2005, American Express spun their advisor division off and it became Ameriprise. It was a great company but there were changes being made that didn't quite fit the direction I wanted to take my practice. After a lot of research and deep thought, I left in 2013 and moved to Commonwealth Financial Network. It's the best business move I've ever made and has allowed me to better serve my clients with better work-life balance.

There are many different types of advisors. My specialty is working with clients on an ongoing basis to reach their goals such as saving for retirement, planning how to draw income in retirement, 401(k) rollovers, investment management, tax strategies, estate planning, insurance, etc. The clients I work best with have a collaborative mindset and want help with their whole financial picture. Generally, I meet with most clients every 6 months or sooner if clients or I feel it's needed.

While I have expertise and years of experience, I never forget that it's your money and your future. give advice tailored to your personal circumstances, not orders. Most of my clients are not financial experts and, therefore, have lots of questions. Sometimes they need to hear the answer a couple times for it to sink in and I'm happy to do that. To me, that's part of a collaborative working relationship.

As far as me personally, I live in Palmyra with my boy girl twins, Collin & Alyssa, born in 2013. I'm a late­ in-life parent and very grateful that the chance to have a family didn't pass me by. The munchkins keep me busy and smiling a lot. I have a Harley that hasn't been ridden much since they came along. Other hobbies include gardening and cooking meals from vegetables I've grown. I used to do canning but that's now on the list of "things I did before kids" for a while.
